Two beautiful weddings

Two of the 11 weddings we have this year were for 2 of Dan’s cousins of which who are two of our best friends. 4th of July weekend we had Dan’s cousin Chuck’s wedding who married the beautiful MaryAnn.  Dan was a groomsman in that wedding so I took Ada to church with me and she was wonderful and fell asleep on me like 2 minutes in, so I didn’t have to worry about her making a peep.

I dropped her off at my parents house afterwards and met up with Dan at the reception. Such perfect weather for a beautiful couple! Here are a few pictures I took from that day!

Just last weekend we had another wedding for Dan’s Cousin Amy who also happens to be one of my best friends. She had an adorable DIY wedding, she made almost everything herself from her bouquets to her sash on her dress, the centerpieces and more. It was another beautiful summer day to watch them tie the knot! Again we brought Ada to the church for her 3rd wedding and took her to my parents for a sleepover. Here are some more wedding pictures from their happy day!

My Favorite Holiday

Every year on the 4th of July we go to my friend Jill’s house for a pool party. For now, we’re the only ones with a kid, Ada is still pretty young so it wasn’t too much of an issue, but next year we’re going to have to do something different. I look forward to this pool party so much every year because it just screams summertime! It’s always beautiful weather, hot and sunny and ALL our friends come over to play. We play games in the park across the street from her and then walk over to her house and grill burgers, snack and drink beer until it’s time to walk to the fireworks. This is just the 4th of July for us!

Having Ada was different this year but still fun since she is at that age where everyone just loves to play with her and hold her. She isn’t mobile on her own yet so we just played in the grass, walked around the park and then let her splash around in the pool.
We decided to forego the walk down to watch the fireworks and instead met up with Ada’s friend Abby and did something a bit more child friendly. We still went to watch the fireworks, but we drove somewhere else, and just parked off the side of a parking lot so we could make a quick escape. Both the girls fell asleep before the fireworks ended anyway!

Ten Year Reunion

Yesterday was my 10 Year High School Reunion! I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already! (doesn’t everyone say that?) It feels like just yesterday still that I was roaming those hall ways and cheering at football games. I am fortunate enough to still remain so close with so many of my high school friends so I didn’t feel like there was a lot of pressure going back. My class was very close and I think a lot of other groups of friends, that weren’t my friends, all stayed close too and that was cool to see.

I was on the reunion planning committee. I feel like most of the pressure was there. Trying to please everyone, trying to make decisions that people wouldn’t bash on social media was impossible. We quickly had to learn when we posted something to Facebook that we couldn’t take it to heart because there will always be those people who hated High School and have nothing good to say about reuniting with anyone there. And that is fine.

The planning committee!

We ended up hosting a really good event and we got a TON of positive feedback afterwards. Even from a lot of the nay-sayers on social media. It was a very rewarding experience because I think we did bring a lot of people back together, and there were a lot of people who came from out of town to be there and that was exciting. I’m not sure I will voluntarily organize the 20th reunion, but I have a feeling the same committee will get roped in again since no one else will likely step up to the plate. We’ll see, for now we can sit back and let another ten years fly by and hopefully I’ll remain friends with most of my high school crew for many years to come!

Our 2013 in Review

I know March is already almost over but I meant to do a nice post about our 2013 for the record book. Last year was filled with so much fun and excitement as well as some big life changes. As everyone jet sets into 2014, I wanted to take a minute to remember what an awesome year we had.

January-
The beginning of the year started out just like any other year! Drunk on New Years Eve followed by some fun nights out. Here is the picture we posted on Facebook wishing everyone a Happy New Year as well as my last crazy night out before we found out that life was about to change.

Happy 2013!
My last crazy night out

February-
Technically we found out at the very end of January, but we told all our family on my 27th Birthday, February 3rd, that Baby Mags was expected in September/October. We also celebrated our last Valentine’s Day alone and began our kitchen renovation!

March-
In March we traveled to South Beach in Miami for a Half Marathon. I didn’t know when I signed up for this that I would be 8 weeks preggo, but we went down anyway with our friend Paul. Him and Dan completed the half with little to no training and I decided I would be better off to stick with the 5k since I was having very bad back pain at the beginning.

My shirt says Running for two, which is hard to read here!

April-
In April we took our last vacation childless to La Romana, Dominican Republic. We went down with a few of my girlfriends from High School, and some guy friends of theirs who became our new friends too! We had an awesome trip, Dan came back 10 pounds lighter from some sort of stomach sickness and we took our announcement photos so we could make our big news “Facebook Official”

Our Facebook Post read: “Dan and I are excited to announce the new addition to our family! Baby Mags will be here in early October!”

May-
In may we found out that our new little addition was a baby GIRL! We shared the news with a fun gender reveal party. I also went out and celebrated my sister’s soon to be marriage at her Bachelorette Party!

June-
June I ran my last 5k race of the summer with my girlfriends. We did the Color Me Rad 5k. I celebrated my best friends baby shower, who had her little boy just 5 weeks before me, and I went full steam ahead with decorating the nursery once we knew we were having a baby girl!

July-
July was full of summer parties, hanging out with friends by the pool and my beautiful sister’s wedding day!

August
August we celebrated the soon to be arrival of Baby Ada with a beautiful shower hosted by our moms and sisters.

September
Of course the most exciting part of this whole year was welcoming little Ada Morgan into our life on September 22, 2013. She has changed our life in more ways then we ever could have imagined and cannot even remember what life was like before she was here!

October
I’ll be honest October was a blur, I don’t really even remember it happening this year. But we did host a baby Halloween at our house near the end of the month!

November –
In November I donated my long hair to locks of Love, turns out babies pull hair, so I gave mine to a good cause. We also celebrated Ada’s first Thanksgiving, along with lots of Football parties with all the other babies born this year and lots of playtime and snuggles with my angel before my maternity leave was over at the end of the month.

December –
To close out the year we had a photo shoot with Dan’s cousin while we went to go get our Christmas tree. We had lots of holiday parties which involved getting a baby sitter lots of times and celebrated Baby’s First Christmas!

And that’s what happened last year!! Its going to be a tough year to beat as so many wonderful things happened and we are so lucky to have such awesome friends and family to share all our adventures with. I look forward to watching this little beauty grow, but kinda wish time would slow down a bit, its amazing how fast a year goes now!

28 Weeks

Yes I know I’m super far behind! I am not so good at taking the pictures which means I keep putting off posting until I have a picture. I’m doing a 28 week update here, but I don’t have a picture. I will do my 29 week update shortly and I promise to have a photo then!

How far along? 28 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  Up 24 lbs at my last doctor appointment, which was last Thursday the 18th
Maternity clothes?  Still yes and no on this one. I am finding that they do in fact make maternity clothes for a reason, but I still can’t justify spending money on them!
Stretch marks?  Nope holding strong!
Sleep: Still sleeping really good actually. I don’t even get up to pee in the middle of the night too often. I toss and turn a lot since being restricted to my sides isn’t my preferred sleep position, but in general I can’t complain. Baby Girl likes to move around a lot right at bed time and sometimes that prevents me from falling asleep right away, but I’m usually so tired it doesn’t last long.
Best moment this week: We went camping with friends last weekend and had a really great time! They all have two little ones already so it was a good taste of baby fever! I was a little uncomfortable though since camping chairs and air mattresses aren’t pregnant friendly, but its something we’ve done every year for a few years now and a fun tradition we are starting. I will share a photo at the end of this of our “Then and Now” last year when we went the other two with babies were pregnant, this year it was my turn. Things have changed for us!
Miss Anything?  Being comfortable with normal things, like sitting. I am starting to just feel uncomfortable all the time, sitting, standing, laying…. it all only lasts a few minutes before I need to change position. I am looking forward to getting back to my normal self!
Movement:  TONS!! Movements are so strong now and so frequent, I don’t think she ever stops. We asked the doctor if this was normal and her reply was “An active baby is a healthy baby” So it seems like we just have one active little girl! Just like her parents I guess…. Neither Dan or I can sit still very long!
Food cravings:  Not really, the hungry all the time thing has sub-sided some, I just don’t have room to eat a lot now. My sister’s wedding this week has slowed down my ice cream at night, but other then that I pretty much eat what I want!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, gagged myself this morning a little bit brushing my teeth, still have a kinda sensitive gag reflex.
Have you started to show yet: Yes! Baby girl is growing perfectly, we had a sono and they took all her measurements of head and belly and everything is right on track, My belly was even measuring slightly ahead! (maybe she’ll be here early!!)
Gender prediction: Its still a girl!! (Our sono confirmed this again on Thursday, lol)
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? Its popped out! Not a lot but you can definitely tell!
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I am getting tired a lot more easily, and with the heat we’ve had lately its made it hard to breath outside (that and I have a little one squishing my lungs!!) I’ve finally got Dan to start working on the nursery! We’re halfway through putting the dresser together, and we painted. I also got a few shower gifts in the mail, and a whole bunch of clothes were donated to me, so I am little by little working on the nursery! All things to just be excited about! Haven’t gotten to the point of panic over having a baby soon!! I’m sure that will come!
Looking forward to: My Sister’s wedding this week is the BIG one! Also looking froward to my shower that is only 2 weeks away now! I’m horrible at peeking at my registry, but Baby Girl already has some really nice things coming her way, and I can’t wait to start organizing everything in the nursery! She needs so much stuff and I am so grateful and excited for the shower so we can get a little help with all the stuff she is going to need! Man babies are needy!
Below is a creepy picture from our sonogram this week. The tech had a hard time getting a good photo of her, she moves around a lot and she is getting so big that it was hard to capture the whole thing. The picture is of her face (you can kinda see her eyes, nose and mouth even though she’s on her side)…. She is in a Frank Breech position as of now, they are going to keep an eye on her and we’re hoping she flips over on her own by 35 weeks, otherwise we may be looking at a scheduled C-section at 39 weeks.
And to the right is the other picture I promised from our camping trip! This was last years camping trip where the other two ladies were pregnant (Becky and Chris had just spilled the beans to us that weekend) and then our picture from this year, where we’ve added 2 more to our 6 pack and have another on the way!
