Bump Update: 18 Weeks

Had our 18 week doctor appointment yesterday morning with the anatomy scan (ultrasound) and we were able to confirm a gender! YAY! I officially know this information and I am keeping this secret until we tell all our family! Tonight we are doing our gender photo shoot with Dan’s cousin who is our AMAZING photographer! So hopefully she can get a couple pictures back to us by Friday. My sister’s 30th birthday is this Friday and we offered to host a little birthday party/gender reveal. So we’ll share with them Friday evening and then we’ll send the photos around to Dan’s family, since 50% of them live out of town.  Once we share with them, I’ll probably (finally) make it Facebook official and then I will share our news on the blog! This is how we’re telling my family on Friday night, our secret is revealed inside…

So that’s how its going down! For now, I’ll share how 18 weeks has been… CrAzY!! We finally moved into the new house, so my stress level has decreased tremendously. It was a crazy weekend while we put our life back together and its an ongoing work in progress to move things around and figure out where we want everything. I’ve been on my feet for like 15 hours a day the past 5 days, but we’re finally at a point where I can relax a bit.

I’ll go right into my weekly updates:

How far along? 18 weeks, 5 days

Total weight gain/loss: About 7 pounds

Maternity clothes? Not much at all really

Stretch marks? No

Sleep: Sleeping amazing! So exhausted by the end of the day that I just crash! We also have a king sized bed in the new house and ordered the Leesa Mattress, which I am LOVING! The first few nights, I slept good, but it just didn’t feel like my bed. Now that I’m getting more used to it I’ve realized that I fall asleep in about .5 seconds and I’m out cold all night, until Ada wakes me up around 6am, which has been getting earlier and earlier. Fortunately its just giving us more time to get ready in the morning, which isn’t a bad thing!

Best moment this week: I’m torn between saying moving into the new house and finding out the baby’s gender! Such a great week so far, and even more excited to tell everyone else the gender, having a lot of fun with it this time around!

Have you told family and friends: Yes, I think nearly everyone knows. Still not sure who at work knows and who doesn’t though. I feel like its pretty obvious, but some people at work are much younger then me and aren’t as perceptive to it I don’t think.

Miss Anything? I’ve been too busy to notice a lack of anything this week, plus our realtor bought me a nice bottle of alcohol free champagne to celebrate our closing and that surprisingly has done a good job of fooling me that its wine!

Movement: Lots more movement. Hard to notice when I am super busy and on my feet, but when I slow down and relax on the couch or in bed at night I can feel it. The baby was moving SOO much at our sonogram yesterday that the tech couldn’t get some of the pictures that she wanted. I was able to see it kicking and thrashing all over the place, which was so cool! I think Ada and Dan will be able to feel it soon too!

Food cravings: Not really anything right now.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve been feeling good again this past week, no headaches, thankfully. Been able to just get done the things that needed to get done and now we can settle into a normal routine again.

Have you started to show yet: Yes, have a little round bump. Still able to wear normal clothes but when I do wear a maternity shirt I look WAY more pregnant. I was curious as to how I compare bump wise to last time around so I did a side by side at the end!

Gender prediction: It’s a …. Coming soon!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? Out

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! So happy to know what our growing family is going to look like soon! Happy to be in our new forever home and to start making awesome memories right inside these walls and in our beautiful backyard.

Looking forward to: Revealing the gender to everyone!! Everyone is so excited for us and I love hearing what everyone’s guesses are while we know our little secret! Its so much fun to reveal the news to everyone separately this time, instead of with one big party. I was able to plan a few different surprises to share and its been so much fun!!

So before we share the news here on the blog, I’ll leave with a sono picture from yesterday and my first bump picture in the new house (Ada took this photo, so its from a low angle and she cut my head off a little. I need to get her a stool for picture taking, otherwise she did a good job!) Stay tuned for the gender reveal!

And here’s a fun side by side I did. I thought I was a little smaller with number 2, but it turns out I think I’m about the same. The picture is bigger (and closer) in number 2’s picture, and maybe I’m a tad bigger, but its pretty close!

Bump Update: 17 Weeks

17 weeks and counting…. The good news is that I haven’t had a headache in almost a week now, (at least not one bad enough to have to take anything). I’ve been managing them with one cup of coffee a day! Maybe its coincidence and maybe its caffeine, either way, its working, so we’re going to keep this up for a little while. Not to mention I’ve just simply needed the caffeine to function. If I want to get anything done in the evenings after 5pm I need it.

We are only 2 days away from closing on the house!!! I know you are probably just as excited to hear me stop talking about it! The current house is about 90% packed up now, we’ve cancelled all our utilities at the old house effective this weekend and have everything switched to the new place! That was a full time job in and of itself to get accomplished! My patience level right now sits at about a 5 out 10, so it takes very little to send me over the edge. Just ask my husband!

So here’s what else is going on in week 17!

How far along? 17 weeks  4 days

Total weight gain/loss: Not sure, scale is still in a box!

Maternity clothes? Same answer as last week

Stretch marks?  No

Sleep: Same as usual, Ada sleeps, I sleep. I feel like I’ve been in a deeper sleep then usual lately. If I do get woken up I’m usually startled, and out cold until my alarm goes off. I haven’t even been hearing Dan come into bed lately, which is so unusual for me.

Best moment this week: We closed on the sale of our house yesterday! We’re renting back from the purchasers for the week until we close on our new place Friday and then we have the weekend to get out. So glad this week is finally here!

Have you told family and friends: Yes, most everyone close to us knows. I’ve told a few more co-workers as it happens to come out. Still not something that comes up all that frequently!

Miss Anything?  Wine! (again) With all the stress of moving, It wold be really nice to just sit back and have a glass of wine in the evening. I think it could have helped this past weekend when I went over the edge about a few things!

Movement:  Yes! Feeling little flutters more frequently now. Still very subtle and not that often. This past weekend is when I think it picked up a notch and I started noticing it more, not to be mistaken with gas or anything else now.

Food cravings:  Still if see something then I want it. Really wanted a coke float yesterday, so I made one. Not much else is on the craving list. I made a ton of precooked meals last week that I could just throw in the oven in toss away baking sheets, and consume on paper plates, so that I could start packing dishes and pots and its seriously been the best thing I’ve ever done! (I might do a post about it!) I’ve had all these meals this week that I could have ready within 10-30 minutes of walking in my house and I don’t have to make a mess or take up time cooking. Plus we’ve had leftovers to take to lunch, so we’re saving money on eating out. My pregnant self and my moving self has loved this!!

Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve felt really good this week. Tired, but I haven’t felt sick at all. Its been really awesome to wake up everyday feeling like myself again, an anxious to move and a little less patient version of myself, but not a sick one.

Have you started to show yet: Yes, my belly is growing. Looking and feeling pregnant, but I’m not sure a stranger would say anything yet for fear of offending me in case I just put on a little weight. Luckily, I have put on weight but for good reason! 🙂

Gender prediction: Next week!! My sister also turns 30 next week and we’re having a little get together at our new house to celebrate and I promised her a little gender reveal party as well at that time! SO excited!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? Both. haven’t had too much pain this week, only once in awhile, but nothing unbearable.

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time: I’ve been a bit moody, but I’ll blame it on the stress of moving. It doesn’t take much to tick me off, and I had a few moments this weekend where I needed to step away from everything to cool off. I feel bad being short with Ada when its other things stressing me out, she doesn’t understand. I also just feel bad in general that we’re not able to give her as much attention as I normally would. She does a great job playing and entertaining herself while we are busy loading boxes and PODs, but when she says “Mom, can you play with me?” she breaks my heart. I want nothing more then to sit down and play, but the clock is ticking on getting the house packed and I try to keep my perspective and take a few minutes to sit down and color with her, or slow down and sit a little while longer at the table with her while she finishes dinner. She’s only this little for a short time, and I die a little inside when I think about when she won’t want me to play with her, or even in about 5 months when my attention is not solely on her anymore but also a little baby! Another reason why this move cannot come soon enough and we can get back to normal living.

Looking forward to: See my last sentence above! We need a little normalcy for awhile before our world gets flipped upside down again. I am so looking forward to being settled in, we’re so close now I can taste it!

No bump pic this week since I totally forgot and its what delayed me from posting this sooner. But here are just a couple from our chaotic life right now.

Bump Update: 16 weeks

I missed 15 weeks because not much is going on. I am still feeling like crap most days with bad headaches at least every other day, if not more often. They are still making me feel nauseous and I had my first bout of “morning sickness” the day after Ada’s party, I think I just over did it, it was non-stop all day long. I’m killing myself getting ready for the move right now, we close in 1 week, so maybe that has something to do with feeling so terrible, just completely run down and exhausted. I’m in the second trimester now and somehow feeling worse then most of the first. I’m really hoping once the move is over and I can relax with my feet up more often that I start to feel better. This is going to be a looong pregnancy if this keeps up.

How far along? 16 weeks 5 days

Total weight gain/loss: I actually have not weighed myself in awhile, my scale is packed in a box and we haven’t been to the doctor. Probably not the worse thing!

Maternity clothes?  Not yet, still wearing regular loose clothes and just the maternity jeans that I’ve had. The weather is finally changing to Fall around here and I’m looking forward to getting some of my Fall stuff out after we move.

Stretch marks?  Nope

Sleep: Sleeping much better lately. Or I should say Ada is sleeping better, as long as she stays asleep so do I. I still might get up with her once or twice a night very briefly, but only for a couple minutes and not every night. I think she just likes to know I’m nearby.

Best moment this week: I actually had a freak out in the middle of the night about a week ago, It started as a dream where I thought something was wrong with the baby and then it kept me awake for about 3 hours worrying about it. So at 4am I went online and bought one of those fetal, doppler heart rate monitors. Extreme? Probably, but I had it delivered like 3 days later and I’ve been able to hear the baby’s heart beat whenever I want to. Its actually really cool and gives me great peace of mind, so in my mind, it was money well spent!! This is the one I bought here.

Have you told family and friends: I told a couple co-workers this week, (the big boss included) so I’m glad he finally knows because I didn’t want it to go on much longer before he knew that I’d be out on maternity leave for awhile. I also need to start finding out about the maternity policy at work, so I’m glad he knows now.

Miss Anything? Wine, (always my answer) and just feeling good in general.

Movement:  A little bit! I know I am feeling it now, I’ve been kinda thinking I felt stuff, for awhile but now I am feeling it more, its still VERY subtle and I have to be sitting very still. Moves around at night time a lot, and I can sometimes feel it in the car.

Food cravings:  French toast. I’ve been making this for breakfast almost every day. Tim Horton’s Iced capp. I still get one of these almost every other day. I try to limit it, but the caffeine really helps my energy level, which I need and I think it helps my headache as well, and I’ll do just about anything to help with those.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Headaches make everything feel worse. I think the stress of moving and work is making me sick too, just run down and constantly thinking about what I still have to do.

Have you started to show yet: Yes, pretty hard to hide, but It still depends on the day a lot, some days I’m definitely bigger then others and certain clothes hide it better then others.

Gender prediction: October 18th is our anatomy sonogram, followed by my 18 week doctor appt. So we will know (FOR SURE) then. We have a cute gender reveal photo shoot planned for that evening so once we do that we’ll be telling the world, which I know many people (my sister- haha) can’t wait for!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? Oh the belly button!! I had some extreme pain a couple days ago, it lasted longer this time then ever before. It was the same pain that sent me to the doctor a few weeks ago, only instead of lasting 3-4 hours, it lasted a day and a half. My belly button was the size of a grape and I couldn’t get it to go in, just touching it brought so much pain. Its better lately, a tad sore but feeling ok. I think we’ll have more and more of these days as my belly grows.

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Neutral. Anxious. Tired. I wouldn’t say a bad mood because I’m not the type of person who is ever in a bad mood, but as I think I’ve mentioned, I really just want to get this move over with.

Looking forward to: Moving!!! We can just stop there!

Here’s a pretty picture to commemorate the giant POD (and eyesore) sitting in my driveway!

And here’s a glimpse at 16 weeks for us! Getting bigger and trying to soak in every moment with my big baby!

My little love, she loves snuggling with the bump and talking to her baby!

Ada’s 4th Birthday Party

My baby girl is FOUR YEARS OLD! How did this happen? I feel like it was just yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital tackling this newborn thing, and now she is the most spunky, sassy and sweet little girl! She has grown up so much this past year from a toddler to a kid, its amazing how much they change year to year. She asked me just this morning, “Mom, why don’t you want me to grow up?” I said I do want you to grow up, but I want you to always be my baby, and she said, “Don’t worry, but we have another baby coming that can be your baby!” She’s right, so sweet, but she’ll always be my baby!!

4 Years of Ada

Crafts, coloring, writing, and painting are her favorite things to do and she has perfected writing her own name, “Mommy” and “DAD”. She is so good at drawing houses and palm trees and even drew an elephant the other day that was better then anything I could do!

I love when she tells me that Indian food take out, is the BEST meal I make and when she talks like crazy telling me about all the kids in her class, who went to time out, what her favorite part of her day was and what she is going to dream about as we lay in bed together every night before falling asleep!

I cannot wait until we add BEST BIG SISTER to the growing list of awesome things she is becoming! She is going to be the most loving and helpful sister in the world, and she already cannot wait to show the new baby All.The.Things!

Her party last weekend was so much fun! We tried to keep it small, but it still ended up with 30 or so people there. It has rained every year on her party, so it was so fun this year to have a hot, sunny day! It was so hot in fact that we had to get the sprinklers out, and I even picked up a really cool slip n’ slide for $5 at Target! We still had to keep all the food and drinks inside because of the temperature, and my Dad saved the day by coming over and setting up a huge tent in the driveway so we had some shade. Despite feeling very distracted about the move and not wanting to go to crazy with theming, everything turned out super cute and she loved it which was the most important part! Here are just a bunch of pictures from the day, and a few from her actual birthday the day before the party! Happy 4th Birthday to my Baby Girl!!

Day Trip to Niagara Falls USA

Over the summer we took a day trip to Niagara Falls. We went right before the 4th of July because usually any time after that the park is mobbed, no matter what day it is. After 9 years of working of there I thought I had it figured out, but we were wrong! It was still pretty crazy, even on a Wednesday afternoon!

The day trip had two parts, one because I really wanted to go back and see all my old co-workers and two because I figured Ada would really enjoy some of the activities there, since she loves the water so much!

We all took a half day from work and school, and left around noon. Usually the later in the day the crazier it gets, to take full advantage you should plan on getting into the Niagara Falls State Park right when it opens at 9am. Hit the majors like Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds right away!

Our first stop was the Niagara Falls USA Visitors Center, my old home! We spent a good hour there talking with everyone. I picked a good day because almost everyone was there and it was so nice to catch up again! It felt very weird to be in there again, to spend so much time somewhere and then just stop going one day is a strange feeling. Everything looked and felt the same except it wasn’t my desk anymore. I miss the team so much, but I couldn’t help feeling like I still made a good decision for my family to move on. It was so much fun promoting such an exciting destination for so many years, and to see it now and how far its come is exciting!

We left with cookies and cupcakes in hand (that kitchen was always stocked with goodies) and headed to the park. My plan was to try and do both the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds, then head somewhere for dinner. The lines were much longer then we expected and since it was nearing 2:30 by the time we headed out, we only had time for one thing. I chose the Cave of the Winds because it always has been my favorite thing!

The Maid of the Mist is a classic, its a famous stop that if you’ve never done it you should! But since we have, I decided the cave would be more fun for Ada. Of course she was tired of walking before we even got to the attraction, so she was piggy backing it early!

Stephanie

The line at the Cave of the Winds took us about 20 minutes to get sandals and then another 20 to get to the Elevators, (Tip: if you can, don’t stop to sit on the benches and put your sandals on, grab them and keep moving. There is usually time while you are standing in line to put that stuff on and you’ll get a jump on all those people who stopped).

FullSizeRender 15

Ada was a little hesitant at first about all that water. She stayed close by and when we got to the top she wanted nothing to do with it. I was so surprised that she was so nervous about it. FullSizeRender 16

The very top of all the stairs is called the Hurricane Deck, we stepped to the side when we got to the top because we were in a lot of peoples way. I let her just stand by me and watch everyone for a few minutes and then all of a sudden she wanted to head in, and I mean ALL. THE. WAY. Something I wasn’t prepared to do and I didn’t really want to get that wet, but that’s the best part about having kids, they force you to do things sometimes that take even you out of your comfort zone! So we headed in and got wet, really wet, and it was SOOO much fun!

FullSizeRender 18

I love my little travel buddy so much! I’m so happy she was willing to step back, watch and then dive into something new. We had so much fun, even though it was literally the only thing we had time for.

FullSizeRender 17

I didn’t think the Trolley was that exciting, but she kept seeing the “Train” go by and wanted to ride it so bad, so we decided to take the “Train” back to our parking lot instead of walking. We had Discovery Passes, so it included rides on the Trolley all day, but its like $2 for a day pass if you didn’t have the full pass. Girlfriend was all kinds of tired after that, (she also missed nap time at school) so she was actually cool with sitting still for a little bit while we waited for the Trolley.

FullSizeRender 20

We had about a 4 minute car ride to the restaurant for dinner and she of course passed out! She never stays asleep once we arrive, so I carried her in with the hopes of her sleeping a little longer but that didn’t last. We went to dinner at Bella Vista Ristorante, inside the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. Its right on the waterfront and since it was only about 5:00pm it was still pretty empty. The view was incredible and the food is really good, lots of Italian dishes to chose from.

They do a lot of weddings there right on the waterfront, and have an amazing ball room that overlooks the water. After dinner, Ada gave me an insight into her future by pretending to be the “Wedding Girl” with daddy! At only 3 years old she has been to more weddings then I did at 20, so she knows what’s up! But I am not ready!

FullSizeRender 21

FullSizeRender 19

We had a super fun family day! Its always fun to be a tourist in your own backyard. The Niagara Falls State Park has so much to do, people tend to think that because there are only 4-5 attractions right there that its not enough to keep the family busy, but we spent one afternoon and did one attraction and dinner, it was more then enough for our family and we very easily could have come back and spent 2 or 3 days there trying to get everything in. Niagara Falls USA has so much to offer families, and with it being so close to my heart, I’ll be taking my family every year to remind us that we have a truly special gem right at our finger tips.

Baby Bump: 14 Weeks!

Yay! Officially in the second Trimester. Unfortunately feeling worse this week then most of my weeks in the first trimester, but surviving! We got word this week that our mortgage was approved, which means it just has to go to our lawyers now and we can set a closing date. So that is happening sooner then we thought. Our closing date was October 19th, we were pushing for a 45 day close which would have been around October 8th, so we’re way ahead. The problem is, I’m not ready! I’ve been feeling kinda crappy and so tired at night again that I’m not getting much packing done. I try to do a little each day. Hoping I start to get my second trimester energy boost in time to make this transition.

So we’ll just get into this week’s update!

How far along? 14 weeks, 6 days

Total weight gain/loss: Still 5 pounds

Maternity clothes?  Trying to just wear loose fitting clothes as most people at my office still don’t know. Its getting harder to hide, but still only wearing the one pair of maternity jeans I bought and the rubber band trick on most everything else.

Stretch marks?  No

Sleep: Sleeping much better! I think we’ve gotten to the bottom of Ada’s sleep issues as Night Terrors, so we’re better managing that by making sure she gets to bed a little bit earlier and going through the full bedtime routine every night. She’s only been waking me up once per night between 2-4am to “cover me up”, I’m sure this is just a phase as well but I’d rather do that then be up for hours at a time with her crying.

Best moment this week: Getting word that our mortgage was approved and we are cleared to move ahead. We also had a doctors appointment yesterday and everything was great. We were able to hear the heartbeat with the fetal monitor thing (156) and it sounded good and strong. We scheduled our Anatomy screening for October 18th so we’ll be able to confirm the gender then!

Have you told family and friends: Most close folks know. Still haven’t told work. It hasn’t come up naturally yet and since its mostly men in my office I feel like it just won’t, I guess soon it will just be assumed!

Miss Anything? Feeling good. Its been a crappy week with headaches and nausea. The nausea isn’t terrible and I think its mostly caused from the headaches. I’ve been just dealing with them because I felt like I was taking too much Tylenol and that was making me uneasy.  They have just made me feel not so hot and I miss more then anything just waking up and feeling good every day.

Movement:  Definitely starting to feel things. Its not super obvious all the time, but once in awhile I’ll feel some little “clicks”. I also had some shifting feelings really low in my abdomen the other night, which was that all too familiar feeling of Ada moving around. It was before bed and I remember Ada always being very active around the time.

Food cravings:  Mostly if I hear it or see it, I want it. Its nothing specific and nothing repetitive. But if someone says “turkey sub” then I want one. The other day it was macarons. I saw some on Facebook and I went to some extreme measures to find a bakery downtown that had them. I came up short and still want one!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Headaches. I’m sure that’s what’s got me feeling so crappy. Its not all the time, they come and go and fortunately are not super intense but just enough to feel shitty! I haven’t had any food aversions,  I’m kinda curious what they would be like, to get something and then completely turn my nose from it, I’m more If I see it I need it!

Have you started to show yet: Definitely yes, but I can still hide it kinda well depending on what I’m wearing, or at least I think I can. I don’t know what everyone else thinks. I feel very pregnant though, but can’t help but think how much farther I still have to go (sigh).

Gender prediction: Skip! Gender reveal coming soon. I’ve figured out what we’re going to do and as soon as we do it and share with family, I will share the news here!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? Its been flat, and not giving me too much trouble this week, thankfully! The doctor gave me strict instructions to NOT lift anything heavy anymore, this is mostly because of the hernia and because I told her we were moving. Ada is going to have a problem with this!

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time: I think happy? I’m kind of indifferent, with feeling not so hot and having a lot on my plate between moving, work and Ada’s birthday this weekend I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed, managing, but too much going on. We have a lot of exciting things coming up, so I am happy and excited, but I am looking forward to slowing down a bit and not stressing over everything soon. Which then it will just be the holiday season, and I’ll have something else to stress over!

Looking forward to: Ada’s Birthday!! My baby is FOUR today!! How is that even possible?!! She is so excited for her presents and her party. I love this age because she gets it! I tried to play down the gift part this year, but every four years olds birthday revolves around the gifts. We tried to keep the party small, but with such big families even that is hard to do and we wound up with 11 kids and 19 adults. She is having a Trolls birthday, and I love to get all themed and creative, but I’m trying to just keep it simple this year! Its rained EVERY year on her birthday, and we’ve had to move it inside, and this looks like the first year its going to be 85 and sunny, almost too hot! I headed to Target yesterday to look for some fun activities for the kids and found a slip n’ slide and I’ve made note on the Facebook invite to bring the kids swim suits as we’ll have the pool or sprinklers set up also due to the heat! A real summer birthday this year which is different!

And to conclude, a 14 week bump picture. I found this fun App last week called Baby Story. The App itself was free but I paid $1.99 to get fun stickers to add to each week. You can even get them for after baby is born. I made my own when I was pregnant with Ada, but that was 4 1/2 years ago, so one, they didn’t have these cools apps then and two, let’s face it, I had waaay more time to just sit around and count down the days until my precious first child was born, I even had a bump baby book for her. Baby #2 gets shafted a little! No baby book, but at least I’ve been really good about updating the blog, this will be the baby book for all my kids!

If you are a follower of my blog, you might notice that there are some new posts hiding in here. I actually made the blog private for several weeks so that I could document the fact that we are expecting baby #2!!! I didn’t want to share the news publicly for awhile, but I wanted to make sure that I documented everything! I love to look back on this blog as a place to remember everything for myself, a digital scrapbook of sorts, more so then for anyone else! We’re now in a safer place in the pregnancy so moving forward you can follow along with us!

So if you are so inclined to catch up on things, I’ve made this post to include the links to the several blogs posts I’ve done while I was incognito for a few weeks. Feel free to catch up with us, or pick up from where we left off. I’ll be documenting everything moving forward!

Adirondack Trip 2017

Before it gets away from me, I wanted to recap our family vacation to the Adirondacks this year. We didn’t do much, or anything really for that matter. Ada was more then happy to just stay at our cabins paying in the sand, water or the playground. She made some cousin friends this year that she got along really well with and basically wanted to spend every waking minute with.

IMG_4242

We went to town one afternoon, took her to lunch for pizza and shopping to pick out her one souvenir gift of the week. She picked a cute little stuffed, pink pig and a stuffed elephant for the new baby! And she got to pick out some candy from the Candy Cottage. She picked cotton candy! She also took a ride on the carousel horse outside the shop, a highlight every year, it will break my heart when she thinks she too old for that!

We took a family kayak trip out on Fourth Lake, which she really enjoyed this year, so much so that she wanted to go again later in the week, so Daddy took her again. Probably one of my favorite pictures from the week! Love when they spend special time together!

I took her for a hike one of our days with a group of the littler kids. A group of them went earlier in the week and we were supposed to go, but we had a shoe incident, thankfully though, because that group did a very long hike. We did a short, flat, 2 mile loop around a lake and even that you would think I was torturing her by making her walk herself.

She got to do her first, solo (without me or dad) tube ride on the boat, which she absolutely loved, she was a little nervous to go out but I’m pretty sure I was more nervous then her! Watching from the dock makes you feel pretty useless if anything were to go wrong. She loved it though and of course they went nice and slow, so she did great! Had the biggest smile on her face! She just looks too old for me in this picture!

And lastly we had a family wedding for the first time ever while we were there. It was fun to have something different to do, although the lack of a babysitter made it harder. Fortunately, Dan has a 13 year old cousin who offered to watch her, and I obviously wasn’t drinking or partying very hard, so we took Ada to the ceremony with us, but then left her back at the Cabin with Dan’s cousin, and I made it back home around 10pm to do bedtime. It was a really beautiful wedding, just a little chillier then we all expected!

And finally I’ll end with a few more favorite pictures from the week. Nothing better then a good family vacation! Ada slept great all week, with the exception of our first night there, which I always expect since its takes a night to get used to our new surroundings. It just always amazes me at how appreciative she is of everything we do, even if it feel likes nothing to me, its so exciting for her. To experience all this through her eyes makes every trip we take, worth every penny! I cannot wait until our next vacation to California in December! Our last one as a family of three!

Another great year in Old Forge, NY!

Baby Bump: 13 Weeks

I’ve been so good about updating this blog every week! Hope I can keep it up!

I had an unexpected sonogram this week! I was having really bad pain around my belly button, mostly after I eat a meal, with my belly getting a little bigger, it takes less to fill me up, but for some reason on Monday the pain was so bad after I ate lunch. I went for a walk to try and get moving a little and it got worse, so I ended up going back to my office and calling the doctor. They wanted to see me, so I went in for a quick visit. She thinks I have a hernia behind my belly button, but its nothing a general surgeon will do anything about during pregnancy and something I’ll have to follow up on postpartum. She suggested a girdle or something to hold it in if it really bothers me. I think I’ll just have to stick to more small meals and try not to eat too much in one sitting, that’s when it seems to get worse. She explained how the GI system slows down during pregnancy and that could be irritating it.

Anyway, she tried to use the little sound machine to get a heart beat on the baby and once again she couldn’t hear it, so sent me in for a sonogram. They all think its weird that they aren’t able to pick up the sound of the heartbeat at 11 and 13 weeks, but the sono tech wasn’t surprised at all. Made me scared for a couple minutes but once I saw the baby on the TV screen again, all was good! Phew!

How far along? 13 weeks 4 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up 5 pounds

Maternity clothes?  Mostly just leggings, and the old rubber band trick on my jeans still.

Stretch marks? No, but I am starting to use my cocoa butter routinely now, just in case.

Sleep: I’m so tired by bedtime that I’ve been heading up to bed by 9:30 most nights, but I think I’m going to bed too early because I’m waking up so early and then of course can’t fall back to sleep. The one night I try to push it back to 11, I managed to stay awake but then Ada decided she wanted to be crazy from 1am-3:30, which ended up keeping me up and even more tired the next day! Having kids is rough!

Best moment this week: Getting an unexpected sonogram. I got to see baby again and everything looked great still! I even asked the gender again and she confirmed what she thought it was last time. She said it was still pretty early and could change but she was getting more and more sure of what it was!

Have you told family and friends: Yes, we are telling people, mostly when it comes up naturally or when someone spills the beans for us!

Miss Anything? Wine, I would really like a glass of wine.

Movement:  I sometimes think I can feel it again when I’m sitting really still. The sonogram this week it was moving like crazy, arching its back and kicking feet. So I’m not surprised if I am starting to feel it, for real this time.

Food cravings:  Tomatoes! I’ve always loved tomatoes, but lately I’ve been eating them plain with just a little salt. I’ve also been having my Tim Horton’s Iced Capps again, which I’ve been avoiding the whole first trimester because of the caffeine. Now that I’m in a safer place, I’ve been having one or two a week again, because they are just so delicious!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope been feeling better lately. The cold is gone and the headaches seem to be gone as well, which is good because I was getting nervous having to take so much Tylenol. I know its safe but still makes me nervous. I also went back to the prenatal vitamins I was taking before. They were making me gag earlier, and while they still aren’t going down perfectly smooth its much better and I think they are just easier on my stomach then some of the other ones I was taking since these ones are whole foods and organic.

Have you started to show yet: I personally think so. I don’t think anyone on the street would call me out yet but most of time there is a little round bump. I still wear fairly lose fitting tops at work because most of my team doesn’t know yet. I think I’ll just let that ride as long as I can and then one day just come in looking really preggo in a fitted top or something. That could be fun!

Gender prediction: I’m going to avoid answering this question until we decide to announce it. I feel like I am 85% sure of what it is and I can’t truthfully answer this without giving it away. Once we get our 100% sure we’ll do some kind of gender reveal.

Labor Signs: No, just hernia signs yikes!!

Belly Button in or out? Let’s not even go there. It felt like it was the size of a grape this week when I called the doctor. Usually I can deflate it when it gets big like that after a big meal and it hurt so bad I couldn’t even touch it. I’ve been feeling okay since that episode, but I really have to pay attention to the size of my meals I think.

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty happy, except when Ada keeps me up at night, then very moody!

Looking forward to: Ada’s 4th birthday party is in less then 2 weeks. We are doing a Trolls party so I’m excited to host that. Last party in our old house! I’m looking forward to moving and getting that over with. We also have another (regularly scheduled) doctor appt. next week, if they can’t get a heart beat with the sound machine again, hopefully I’ll get another sono, haha another chance to confirm that gender!

Here’s a picture from our unexpected sonogram this week, my baby already has the cutest little face and side profile! What a little doll!

IMG_6966

And lastly a bump picture. Not the best one as I took it myself and with the window behind my head I had to cut it off or it looked silly! But it definitely started to make an appearance this week, so I’ll share it anyway!

Baby Bump! 12 Weeks and more exciting news!

We’ve almost made it through the first trimester!! Nothing makes me happier then to get over this hurdle since I know the risk of miscarriages starts to drop dramatically. We had another doctor appointment with sonogram today, and we took Ada along to see the baby, she wasn’t as into it as I thought she’d be, but she was excited after the fact that she was there!! Everything looked great, heart rate was 157. She had a guess as to the gender but said she wasn’t confident enough to confirm that, but she did tell us her guess!! I tried to schedule the appointment for as late in week 12 as I could. We’ll either be waiting until 18 weeks, which will be around the end of October, or I might consider a trip to Baby Bungalow, which is a neat little place that does 3D sonos, but they kinda cost a lot! We have an idea now which might be enough to hold me over, but we’re not sharing until we are sure and right now I’m not sure what I want to do once we find out or how we plan to share the news.

Before I do my weekly update I wanted to share our exciting house news!! I last left off saying we put an offer in on our dream home, and after some price negotiations, our offer was accepted!!! I was driving in my car on my way to work when I got the news and I shrieked with joy and laughter, followed by a whole lot of happy tears! I’ve never done that before! Damn hormones! We quickly took care of all the odds and ends and accomplished in two days what takes most people 2 weeks, but we were able to officially sign off on everything, including a home inspection before we left for vacation! Here’s an outside picture of our new home from Realtor.com…

Haverton Ext

I could not be more excited to call this new place home! We’re aiming for a 45 day close since the house is vacant and our current house sale is a cash offer, so as long as we can keep our bank and attorney’s moving, we should be able to wrap this up pretty quick! I’m ready to get in there! It needs ZERO work! Which is just the most refreshing thing for us to move in and not need to start 10 reno projects. We should be all settled by the holidays and I’m excited to host some parties this year and get ready for our new addition to come HOME here!

I’ll try to keep updated with how that progression is going, moving while pregnant should be fun, but It will be nice to be settled back in soon!

On to my 12 week update!

How far along? 12 weeks, 5 days

Total weight gain/loss: Still 4 pounds (or zero pounds since my first doctors appointment which is probably the number they will start from)

Maternity clothes?  Not much, I have the jeans but haven’t worn them much because they fall down easily. I bought a new sweatshirt thing to wear with my leggings once the weather starts changing, still too warm now, but I’ll probably live in that shortly!

Stretch marks? No

Sleep: Ada is killing me with this lately, she’s usually up at least once, if not twice a night for something. Sometimes its for much too long, like an hour or more. Sometimes its quick but once she wakes me up I have a million thoughts running through my head. Between packing, moving, a new baby, work, birthday parties, or one of the other hundreds of things I have to do, I simply cannot fall back to sleep easily.

Best moment this week: Having another sonogram today and seeing our little peanut look more and more like a baby. It was moving around a lot again and we have insight into a gender now which is a little exciting but still makes me anxious since it could still change.

Have you told family and friends: Same as last week, I don’t think anyone new has found out since them!

Miss Anything? Not really anything right now

Movement:  Saw the baby moving a lot on the screen but I haven’t really felt anything since last week when I THOUGHT I was feeling something, maybe soon though since it does seem to always be moving.

Food cravings:  Not anything specific, been having a hard time finding what it is I want to eat again, tried a salad for lunch the other day (trying to eat healthy) and I just couldn’t do it, I do feel hungry all the time, I just never know for what!

Anything making you queasy or sick: The cold I have had has had me feeling under the weather, and left me with a lot of headaches, I’m hoping its all related to the head cold and not to my headache trends that I tend to get. I hate having to take anything with a baby on board, but they get so intense sometimes I don’t have a choice.

Have you started to show yet: I have moved to the couches at my office because its more comfortable to lean back and put my feet up, the big bubble in my stomach makes sitting up at a desk feel uncomfortable, but we’re still really just popping out at night time for the most part! Starting to show more for sure and hopefully we’ll be at the cute bump stage soon and out of the fat stage.

Gender prediction: I feel bad for answering this question now because the sono tech gave me her insight and I feel slightly biased, But I’ll answer based on what I would have went off before, those old wives tales. The heart rate dropped pretty low compared to where it was two weeks ago 171 down to 157, and lower means boy (supposedly), but I hear anything over 140 is girl. I still think based on timing it would be a boy, but my gut says girl. We’ll have to wait and see!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? I don’t even want to answer this question anymore because its so strange and I can’t even keep up with what its doing.

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! As usual! I feel so relieved after today’s sono to see that all is well. I get so incredibly nervous before a sono appointment and I just feel so happy when its over to know its all good.  It gives me such peace to see it moving, see the heart beat, the brain, arms, legs, everything. It looks so perfect already and I’m just so happy and blessed that I am able to do this again!

Looking forward to: Confirming the gender! We have an idea now, but there is just something special about knowing and starting to plan and imagine what your family will look like in a few months. I love so much my relationship with Ada, and I really hope for a boy so Dan can enjoy the special bond of father and son like I do with mother and daughter, but I also love my little girl so much and would take a whole house of them if that’s what is in store for us! Keeping it a surprise just doesn’t sound fun to me, I get so excited to start thinking about our family as soon as I can!!

Took this picture in the mountains last week, but it was on Saturday the official start to week 12!

IMG_5217
A tiny 12 week bump starting to pop out!

And another sono picture of our little baby actually starting to look like a real baby! An adorable little side profile of the face. Its weird since sonograms all kinda look similar, but I feel like this is exactly what Ada’s 13 week picture looked like too, lol

12 weeks 5 days

And a cute one of Ada doing some light reading in the doctors office. Good thing she is reading up since she went back to school this week!! Pre-k 4!
