18 weeks! ITS A ………

This was the week we had been waiting for we FINALLY found out whether our little Baby Mags was a boy or a girl!!!!

ITS A………..

We are so excited to be having a little girl and I’ve already been stocking up on sweet baby girl outfits that I can’t get enough of!
We spilled the news to all our family and friends by hosting a little gender reveal party. I had seen so many things I liked on Pinterest for how to reveal it, but we ended up doing the box of balloons since it seems like the easiest thing to do on short notice, we found out on Thursday and kept the secret to ourselves until Saturday morning. We definitely had everyone fooled, I think almost everyone in the room thought we were having a boy, and had done a pretty good job of convincing me the same.  But we are thrilled beyond belief for a little girl!

How far along? 18 weeks (As usual I’m about a week behind posting this though)
Total weight gain/loss:  up 4 lbs.
Maternity clothes?  Some, still wearing any of my old clothes that I can manage to not look ridiculous in
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: Still sleeping very good actually, usually wake up at least once, but I fall right back asleep
Best moment this week: Finding out our little peanut is a baby GIRL!! The whole sonogram in general was amazing because they put it up on a big screen TV and we watched her move all around for a good 15-20 minutes. She was moving like crazy and the doctor was able to point out all her major organs and everything, crazy to see a little person moving around inside you!
Have you told family and friends:  Yes
Miss Anything?  I miss being skinny, I’m not used to seeing myself with such a tummy, and all my favorite summer clothes no longer fit me!
Movement:  Tons! She moves around like crazy and Dan is finally able to feel it once in awhile. He sometimes isn’t patient enough but he can definitely feel different parts of her when she moves in the right position and we can find a real hard spot or something.
Food cravings:  Jalapenos. I wouldn’t call them cravings but its been the one thing I want to put on everything that I never really used to like.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.
Have you started to show yet: The belly kinda popped this week. I went from looking a little chubby to being pregnant, I am told that I’m still pretty tiny though!
Gender prediction: Its a GIRL!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but starting to change shape a little bit. The belly button ring came out this week so it feels a little funny.
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, business as usual
Looking forward to: Starting the nursery!! Now that we know the gender I was able to finish our registry and pick out some of the colors we want to use. I just don’t want to go to pink crazy on everything!

17 Weeks

I’m posting a little behind, but here’s my update for 17 weeks!! Baby is moving around a lot now! Dan was actually able to feel it once, he’s not patient enough to feel it more often, since its not moving constantly. But I used to have to sit really still in order to feel it, now I can feel it a little more frequently, like at my desk at work or when in the car. Our 18 week sono is this Thursday and we CANNOT WAIT to find out if its a HE or a SHE!

How far along? 17 weeks, (technically I’m posting today at 18.1 weeks)
Total weight gain/loss: Was up about 3 lbs according to my scale, we’ll see what the doctor says Thursday
Maternity clothes?  Some, Pants Yes! I have a few other things that I wear a lot because they are comfy but I wear my old clothes mostly, as long as they are loose fitting!
Stretch marks?  Nope and we’re hoping to keep it that way! 🙂
Sleep: Sleeping great still, we had our floors refinished at our house this week so I wasn’t allowed to be in there, so we’ve been staying at my sister’s and our friends house, I am sleeping very well considering I’m not in my own bed.
Best moment this week: Had to be when Dan felt the kick. I’ve been waiting for him to be able to feel it too and he felt it once while laying in bed.
Miss Anything?  I was okay this week, I’ve been doing just fine eating everything in sight!
Movement:  Little kicks – they started out feeling like a muscle twitch but now they are actually starting to feel like the baby is doing little somersaults!
Food cravings:  I am obsessed with putting fresh jalapenos on everything right now. I also love the Wegmans real fruit popsicles, pink grapefruit and pomegranate!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really, my vitamins gave me a close call this week when I took them on an empty stomach, won’t do that again!
Have you started to show yet: A little bit, I still think I just look fat but others think it looks like a little baby bump, pretty small still though.
Gender prediction: I have such mixed feelings still since everyone else has an opinion. I’m sticking with boy still so I stay consistent, but we will FINALLY know after Thursday. We’re having a gender reveal party on Saturday for family and close friends who can’t wait to find out too! Dan and I have to keep our little secret for 2 whole days!!
Labor Signs: NO
Belly Button in or out? Innie, I feel like it might stay in?
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!  I was a little crabby this weekend since I wasn’t able to go back into my own house on Saturday when I thought I would be able to, I chalked that up to not sleeping in my own bed, not showering and I was really hungry!
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender this week!!!!!!!!!!!

16 Weeks!!

We’re getting there! We finally announced it on Facebook, and I’ve FINALLY started to feel it move! I’ve been waiting for that! Its not a lot but when I sit still I can usually feel little flutters! I describe it as a muscle spasm or twitch, I like it and cannot wait until I start to feel it more. Can’t wait until Dan can feel it too, I actually feel like there is a baby in there now!

How far along? 16.2 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  I think just up one pound still
Maternity clothes?  Some… mostly maternity pants and leggings, baggy shirts fit better then maternity ones at this point
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: Sleeping fine, but I don’t like that I have to be on my sides all the time
Best moment this week: (And last week actually since I’m behind): Feeling my peanut move around a little bit for the first time!!! This week’s best moment was that my sister set my date for my Baby Shower! August 10th! And we registered for all kinds of fun baby things too!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!  I’m going to start taking this question out!
Miss Anything?  Red wine!!! A nice big, fancy glass of really dry red wine!! (Usually only when people are drinking it around me)
Movement:  Little flutters when I sit still. Sometimes I can feel it when I have to pee really bad (which is a lot)
Food cravings:  Nothing specific still…. See food, want it!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope
Have you started to show yet: I have a little bump starting yes, the size still depends on the time of day, much bigger at night!
Gender prediction: Boy, but I really like dessert which I never really did before, they say that means girl! We’ll find out in 15 DAYS!!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In, but my belly button ring is still in and its starting to poke out! I think I’ll have to ditch that soon
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

Looking forward to: Our Sonogram in just 15 more days!!

14 Weeks

We spent week 13 in the Dominican Republic on vacation, so I took my 14 week photos at the tail end of the week! I feel like the baby bump started to show up a little bit this week, I still think I just look chubby but everyone else says I look pregnant. Vacation was amazing, even being at an all-inclusive resort not being able to drink was made tolerable by 86 degree days, sunshine and the bright Caribbean! So I can’t complain. We also finally took some photos to make our big reveal on Facebook, I’ve been trying to put this off for as long as possible, but I think my mother will go crazy if I don’t give her permission to announce that she is going to be a grandma soon. So after my 14 week update I will share some of those photos that are going up this week too.

How far along? 14 weeks today
Total weight gain/loss:  I weighed in today 2 lbs heavier, I think vacation and the all you can eat buffet is to blame on this one though!
Maternity clothes?  Just my leggings which are really the only comfortable thing I can wear to work
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: I don’t have a good update on this since our bed on vacation was the worlds most uncomfortable mattress and pillows and caused me to wake up every hour all week
Best moment this week: Being on vacation! Probably our last one child less!
Have you told family and friends:  Yes, everyone close to us knows, Facebook Official is coming soon
Miss Anything?  Wine (of course) Not drinking on vacation wasn’t as bad as I thought, but I do miss cheese… brie, feta, bleu, it was on a lot of food in the restaurants this week and I had to just pick other things.
Movement:  I feel pregnant. I don’t feel the baby yet, but I sometimes can feel hard spots in my tummy or feel like I can feel things shifting around. Weird.
Food cravings:  I really wanted yogurt, granola and fresh fruit something bad this morning which isn’t anything I ever really liked combined before.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No
Have you started to show yet: Depends on the time of day and what I ate on how big, but yes I think so.
Gender prediction: I am still so torn. I’m gonna stick with boy for now since that was my original guess, but I have no idea
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: Going to register for the big baby items next weekend! Finding out the gender May 9! (This will be my answer to this question every week until May 9!)

So this was our second idea, that we thought conveyed the message better!

12 Weeks

We’ve survived 12 weeks!! Only 28 more to go! We had another sonogram yesterday and they performed a few different genetic tests to make sure Baby Mags is healthy and everything looks great! They will discuss some of the results of my blood work with me at my next appointment on April 12, but the doctor said everything looks fantastic! What a relief!!

How far along? 12. 3 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  Down 1 lb at the doctor yesterday (this varies by the day I think)
Maternity clothes?  Started rocking the belly band with my work pants, but that’s all.
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: Sleeping great, had some wild dreams last night!

Best moment this week: Having our third sonogram and seeing that baby has a face, arms and little legs. We got to see it moving around, and we saw the little fingers and toes! So Amazing, I couldn’t stop smiling!
Have you told family and friends:  We’ve told mostly everyone now, but haven’t made it “Facebook Official”
Miss Anything?  Wine and Turkey Sandwiches
Movement:  Haven’t felt it, but finally saw it on the sono
Food cravings:  Not really
Anything making you queasy or sick: I sprayed my perfume on this morning and I have been nauseous all day, its either that or my major headache today causing that. Otherwise I’ve been fine.
Have you started to show yet: Depends on the day whether I’d call it a bump or not, but I’m definitely a little thick in the middle.
Gender prediction: I’m still thinking boy, but we have a lot of people saying girl. My mythical tests I’ve taken have said both! I guess we’ll just have to wait until out the18 week sono on May 9th!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finding out the sex on May 9th!! We’re also going to register for the big items (Stroller, car seat etc.) before we find out the sex, so I’m excited to do that in a couple weeks.
My Little peanut with a face and the cutest little legs!! (I think its gonna be a runner)

10 Weeks

So I’m a little far behind basically because when we had our Sonogram at the end of February we were told we were about a week off then what we expected. So my estimated due date is now October 7th, rather then end of September. So I had to re-do week 8,  I didn’t post anything and then I was just a slacker and forgot to post for week 9.

So here we are at 10 weeks. 10.3 weeks to be exact! We just returned from our trip to Miami Beach, where we went down to run the half marathon, I was soooo sad to have to change my registration from the 13.1 to the 5k, but my back has been bothering me lately and I didn’t want to take any chances of irritating anything more by running the half. So I reluctantly did the 5k instead. It was still a beautiful run in downtown Miami and we finished right on South Beach, plus I got a vacation out of the deal so its a win in my book.

We had our first sonogram done on February 28, and everything looked great, heart beat was 179 which she said was perfect, then we had our first appointment with the doctor yesterday and again she said everything was looking great. She tried to find a heartbeat for us on the walkie-talkie looking thing, but we couldn’t pick it up, she said its hard to find when its this early because its still so little. But she let us go into the sono room again and they let us have another look at our peanut. Heart rate was at 170 and the picture this time was visibly bigger then the last one we had which was cool to see. Here’s baby’s first photo!

And now I will do my 10 week update:
How far along? 10.3 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  Up 1 lb. depending on the day!
Maternity clothes?  Not yet, I’ve been buying fashionably baggy things so I can wear them now and after baby
Stretch marks?  No
Sleep: Sleeping just fine, especially on the couch around 8pm
Best moment this week: Scheduling my next 3 doctors appointments, including the one where we can (hopefully) find out the gender… May 9th!!
Have you told family and friends:  We’ve told most of our close family and friends, still trying to make our rounds, but we’re not keeping it a secret anymore, except on Facebook still!
Miss Anything?  Drinking!! It was horrible being in Miami South Beach and not drinking, people in that city are just there to get messed up, especially during spring break and I just had to watch.
Movement:  No
Food cravings:  I see food and I want it. Baked potatoes are a hit right now, mangos became a thing today.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Headaches
Have you started to show yet: Depends on the time of day and how much I ate, my sister calls it a food baby!
Gender prediction: I’ve decided I think its a boy!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, except when I had to come home from vacation, then I was sad.

Looking forward to: Summer!! I’m sick of winter around here, and it will be closer to meeting my little Baby Mags!

8 Weeks and Running through Pregnancy

Okay so technically I am 9 weeks today, but I’m a little slow posting, so this is my 8 week update. Before I do my questions I just want to write a little bit on how running is going. I’ve made it a goal of mine to try and run throughout this whole thing, starting with a half marathon next month that I signed up for long before we found out.
Running is really hard!! At 8 weeks I can already tell that its just going to keep getting harder. I was doing so good at first. Running 6 miles and feeling great the whole time. When I slowed my pace down from a 9 minute mile to an 11 minute mile, it first felt like I could just run forever at that pace, but last weekend there was a whole slew of other things going on. Tailbone pain is at the top of my list right now (which usually goes away a few minutes into running). I’m just so nervous still about over doing it, so if I feel like I’m sweating too much or breathing too hard I take it down to a walk, which is very frustrating for someone who doesn’t like to walk on a run. Usually if I’m not feeling it I would just cut the run short, but I don’t like to walk. So this is definitely a change in pace (no pun intended) that I really have to get used to. I hope after my first doctor appt. and I get the A-Ok that everything looks good, I’ll be less paranoid.

The half marathon next month (a week and a half actually, yikes!) is going to be tough, its down in Miami Beach so I’m a little worried about the heat, although the race starts at 6:13am so I’m hoping we’re okay that time of day. Its just going to be a long morning of running a half mile, walking a quarter mile. But I think it will be the most rewarding thing to say I did, so I’m very excited, even if it takes me all day!
How far along? 8 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Same still
Maternity clothes?  Not yet
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: Sleeping great, sleeping all the time!
Best moment this week: Knowing our sonogram is just a few days away
Have you told family and friends:  One by one we’ve spilled the beans, one of my best friends from HS found out last weekend (I can’t keep a secret for anything) and I told my boss at lunch last week. Still waiting on the sonogram for the rest.
Miss Anything?  I’m starting to miss turkey sandwiches, I have to find some cooked deli meat asap!
Movement:  Nothing yet
Food cravings:  Lemonade is a thing now.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not specifically, just find myself being very picky about what I want to eat.
Have you started to show yet: I feel like it comes and goes, this weekend Dan and I thought yes, today not so much!
Gender prediction: Still not sure yet, but I read about a trick on reading the first sonogram with 97% accuracy. I’ll make my formal prediction soon I think. 🙂
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: Our first sonogram on Thursday!!

7 Weeks

How far along? 7.4 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Same
Maternity clothes?  Not yet (ordered some stuff online for our upcoming vacations though)
Stretch marks?  No
Sleep: I’ve gone back to sleeping just fine through the night. Not even getting up to pee (unless I drink too much at bedtime)

Best moment this week: I guess ordering some new clothes for vacation, although I would have been doing this anyway, just not from the maternity section!
Have you told family and friends:  Only the ones we told right away still know, the rest have to wait a couple more weeks!
Miss Anything?  WINE! Try going on a wine tour and not being able to drink, torture! (Luckily it was wine paired with chocolate for Valentine’s Day and everyone felt bad for me so I got lots of extra chocolate!)
Movement:  No
Food cravings: Early in the week I really wanted a soft pretzel with cheese, now they are not so much cravings as much as me just constantly thinking about what my next meal will be.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not anything specifically. My stomach has been doing flips once in awhile, usually when I start to get hungry, so I was keeping goldfish close by. This past weekend was the first sign of it, It lasted through the beginning of the week but I’ve been good the past 2 days.
Have you started to show yet: Not yet, my mom insisted I was getting a bump, I told her it was wishful thinking and thanked her for calling me fat already!
Gender prediction: Still haven’t decided on my guess yet.

Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but very tired.
Weekly Wisdom: My only thoughts this week were that I was only on week 7 and I have a loooong way to go still!
Looking forward to: Our sonogram in just 2 weeks!

7 weeks- 33 weeks to go, Yikes!

6 Weeks

(Yes that is my husband still in bed behind me)

 How far along? 6 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  Same. Still holding strong
Maternity clothes?  Nope
Stretch marks?  No
Sleep: Still sleeping fine

Best moment this week: Telling some of our family and friends
Have you told family and friends:  Some yes, immediate family and some really close friends. (Most of who are already pregnant, I needed to go to someone for advice!)
Miss Anything?  Drinking, it was very hard to celebrate my birthday and the Superbowl without indulging!
Movement:  Not yet
Food cravings: Not really, I’ll still eat just about anything
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, the headache I had yesterday made me not feel so hot!
Have you started to show yet: Not really
Gender prediction: I have referred to it as a him (so has my mother and mother-in-law) but otherwise, I’m not sure yet! The Chinese gender predictor also said boy, so it must be true! Both our sister’s said girl though, so who knows?
Labor Signs:  No!
Belly Button in or out? In, trying to decide when to remove my belly button ring (goodbye hot little body)
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I got very annoyed at Dan for getting drunk this weekend, I think I’m just jealous!
Weekly Wisdom: Don’t drink too much water at bedtime!
Looking forward to: The sonogram in 3 weeks!

Telling Family and (some) Friends

We finally made our rounds and told our Family and some close friends this weekend! We went around to our parents house on Sunday before the Superbowl (on my birthday – and what a memorable one it was!) We told both our parents and siblings the same way, I made these little keepsake cards for everyone. Our Mom’s both said “The only thing better then having you for a mom, is our child having you for a Grandma!!” Our Dad’s cards said “The Best Dad’s get promoted to Grandpa” and our brothers and sisters cards all said “I can’t wait to meet my Aunt/Uncle!!” The insides all looked the same with a picture of our running sneakers and an extra tiny pair!

It was so much fun telling everyone, I wish I would have been better about taking photos when we told everyone, we did manage to capture a moment when we told some friends. Both the girls are already pregnant, so I told them I wanted a birthday picture and when Dan held up the camera to get a picture of the three of us, he said “a picture of all the pregnant ladies!” She didn’t get it at first and he had to say it a few times, but her reaction was priceless when she finally got it. Here is the one moment we did manage to catch on camera! The bottom one is blurry because she was running all around! Haha

We told some of our other friends with some clever one liners, Dan spilled the beans once by saying that he had a DD all summer long, took them a minute but they caught on quick. Another set of friends, who are 6 weeks ahead of us, we told by asking them if they wanted to take Baby classes together! We’re waiting to tell everyone else until after my first sonogram which will be February 28th. Once we have the “all is good” from the Doctor I’ll feel better about telling everyone else, and boy will that be easier! Going out with friends is so complicated now, coming up with excuses about why your not drinking on your birthday and during the Superbowl is pretty tricky! It will be nice when we don’t have to pretend anymore!
