Top 10 Favorite Baby Items

So I know I promised a birth story blog, and I should really do that before I start forgetting details, but it turns out having a baby and working full time is pretty time consuming. I went back to work right after Thanksgiving and with the holidays and friends in town and everything else in between¬†I haven’t even thought about the blog lately. Since that story will take time to write (and re-live) I thought I’d do a quick post with some of my most favorite baby items so far. This will also be my shopping list for future friends having babies since these were my life savors!! So if your one of my friends reading this, expect to get this stuff! ūüôā

1. Aden+Anis Swaddle Blankets – I’ve only found these in a 4 pack, and they are almost $40 which seems like a lot for blankets but I figured they are only about $10 per blanket and it was great to have 4 of them, one was always clean. These are the BEST swaddle blankets because they are big enough that you don’t have to have the perfect swaddle wrap, you can do it real quick and nice and tight. It worked best for us because little Ada didn’t like her arms swaddled so those wraps with Velcro didn’t really work for us.

2. PJ’s with zippers!!! I don’t even know why newborn jammies come with snaps, they are a nightmare to figure out in the middle of the night. Newborn PJs with mittens and zippers were the best. A lot of our jammies that had mittens only had snaps and the ones with zippers didn’t have mittens, so she wore the same ones a lot! If you can find both, buy multiple pairs. As she gets older the snaps that only go down one leg are okay, and we don’t need the mittens anymore, but forget those silly PJ’s that you have to match up snaps in the crotch, we left them undone half the time because we were only gonna take them off again in 20 minutes!

3. Fisherprice Rock N’ Play –¬† This is the exact one from Target that we got, I thought the colors were awesome, but more then that this little cradle was our favorite place for her. She slept in this for the first 4 weeks when she was too little to lay in the cradle that was in our room (she would just flop over in her little burrito roll) This kept her nice and snug and sitting up right a little bit. It was also perfect to transport up and down the stairs if she fell asleep and we didn’t want to disturb her. During the day I could set her down, she would nap there and even now she’ll just chill in there. It goes up to 25 lbs. so it will be with us for a little while longer. We got good use out of this one!

4. Vera Bradley Bottle Caddy РI got this little gem for free when I bought my diaper bag and its awesome!! It only holds one bottle which is all you need a lot of the time. I actually froze some yogurt in a tiny round tupperware container and I toss that in the bottom to use as an ice pack.

5.¬†Vera Bradley Convertible Diaper Bag¬†– Speaking of the bottle caddy, I will say this is the best diaper bag! I actually don’t use the one I registered for because it was ridiculously small. This one holds everything I need! I look forward to the day when I can just throw some stuff in my purse, but for now while we travel heavy and for packing her up when she’s with the grandmas all day while I work, this has all the room I need for plenty of diapers, changes of clothes, bottles, burp clothes, toys etc… and anything else I can jam in there. The best part is it comes in¬†plain black¬†if you’re not into the Vera Bradley style. This bag is worth every penny even though it seems kinda pricey!

6. ¬†Halo Sleep Sacks¬†– This is what we put her to bed in every single night. When she was a newborn we did do the swaddle, but once she started waking herself up just trying to bust out of it, we deiced it was time to try a sleep sack. Since she was born at the end of September, most of her infancy has been in cooler and now freezing cold weather, so these fleece blankets keep her nice and toasty without putting a blanket in her crib. They come in 4 sizes, so she can ¬†keep growing into them. We’ve already moved up to the second size, we’ll probably continue using these at least until the summer time. Again something else that has worked at night time and I will not stop doing what I do as long as she’s sleeping through the night.

7.¬†“Blankey”– So this is not exactly the one we have, we have a white lamb but its as close as I could find. A friend bought this for her at a specialty gift shop and from what I can tell this already is going to be her attachment item. At 3 months she loves to just hold on to it and loves to play with (and chew) the ribbon around its neck, and its small enough to throw in that awesome diaper bag or tuck into her car seat. I may be encouraging this to be that item a little bit too because its so cute!

8. ¬†Sound Machine¬†– This is the one we have but it comes in a million brands and varieties. ¬†Its the idea of the sound machine that puts it on my list. It has several different sounds, white noise, rain, ocean etc. and the volume knob is how you turn it on an off so you can gradually increase or decrease. We’ve used this thing every night since she’s been home, whether it calms her or not I will never know, but she’s been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks so I won’t stop using it now.

9. Organic Cotton Washable Nursing Pads¬†– I don’t know who got me these specific ones or where they found them around here, but here’s a link to some on Amazon. These were the best!! They were so soft (and got softer with each wash) They fit right inside your bra comfortably and absorb everything during those first few weeks of breastfeeding. The disposable ones were way to rough on sore nips, these actually just feel like part of your bra which makes you feel just a little normal again, and the best part is they are re-useable!

10.¬† Dishwasher Basket This is the one we have, but I think any of the million varieties would work. I didn’t use this for the first month or two because we were strictly breastfeeding and I wasn’t going through bottles that much, but now that I am exclusively pumping, I go through bottles, nipples and pump parts like crazy. This thing can hold almost all my bottle pieces in one load and when I don’t feel like hand washing all that stuff, its fantastic to throw it all in the basket and be done with it. Also, along this line is the Boon Grass, which I also love for when I do hand wash everything. All the little pieces fit nicely on here.I originally registered for the lawn but took it back because it was so big, the grass has more then enough space and doesn’t take up your whole counter.

So there you have it, in no particular order, my top 10 list! I could probably do another post with my thoughts on other items that we found useful, and I could also probably do a post of things I found to be a waste of money. As new moms we think we need everything out there and while a lot of the things have been created to make life easier, there are a lot of things that we really don’t need. My best advice, Don’t open, take off tags or use everything before baby arrives, wait and see what you’re baby and you really need.

And to finish, a few pictures of my love bug because she’s just too cute not to have some in every post!!

Introducing our new Baby Girl!!!!

She has arrived, all on her own and 2 weeks early! We were also able to avoid a C-section! Ada Morgan made her debut on September 22, 2013 at 10:26 am, 7 hours after being admitted into the hospital! Baby Ada was very ready to meet us! She was 6 lbs. 13 oz and 19 3/4 long. She is my little peanut for sure and has daddy wrapped around her finger already!

So far we are loving parenthood and couldn’t be happier with our new little family member, she is sleeping and eating very well. Its a lot of work and breastfeeding is probably the hardest thing about all this. But everyone is doing fabulous. I will post her birth story another time, but for now here are some pictures we had done at the hospital and some even cuter ones we had done at 6 days old! (yes she is already a week old – I’m gonna be hard pressed finding time to blog now, as if I already wasn’t bad enough posting updates on time!)

37 Weeks

True that I’ll be 38 weeks tomorrow but I’ll back track a little for 37 weeks. Super uncomfortable, and so ready to be done. ¬†Had a doctors appointment on Monday and it was the shortest and fastest one yet. In and Out, nothing new to report, hanging in there, everything is good with both me and baby. She still couldn’t tell if she was breech or not, said the head and the butt often feel the same, no sono and she didn’t give any indication of having another. She asked if we got to the hospital on the 30th and found out she flipped if I still wanted to go ahead with the c-section and my only response was that there was no way they were going to send me home to wait for labor, so yes!! I have the 30th as the end goal and I can’t imagine changing that now!

How far along? 37 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  up 39 lbs, I officially weigh more then my husband! Terrible!
Maternity clothes?¬† Had a breakdown this week when my MATERNITY pants did not fit! Wouldn’t go over my ass or my belly! That’s when you know you’re so done!
Stretch marks?¬† Nothing yet, I’m terrified that I made it this far and then they will creep up on me at the final hour. Still good though!
Sleep:¬†Sleeping good once I’m asleep, its the getting comfortable enough to fall asleep part that’s the hardest.
Best moment this week:¬†100% finalized her name! We’ve had the same first name in mind all along, and we’re sticking with it, but I’ve been back and forth on a middle name, we finally made our decision and couldn’t be happier with it!
Miss Anything? Just being comfortable in general.
Movement:¬†Still quite a bit, I thought they were supposed to slow down at the end? Dan and I have nicknamed her “littlefoot” because I swear we can feel little feet running up and down my belly!
Food cravings:  I really wanted a Blue Moon beer last weekend, not sure why that one specifically.
Anything making you queasy or sick:¬†Not really, haven’t really had that feeling at all during pregnancy.
Have you started to show yet:¬†Um, people just love to remind a really pregnant women that she looks like she is “going to pop”, Just a word to the wise, we know, and we feel like it too, you don’t need to remind us!
Labor Signs:¬†Still getting the braxton hicks, have a lot of other really uncomfortable feelings in my back and belly. Last night I was almost sure I was going to go into labor over night, but as soon as I got home, drank some water and put my feet up I relaxed, I guess it was just a long week and come Friday I’m done!
Belly Button in or out?¬†Out everyone says my Turkey timer says “I’m done!”
Wedding rings on or off?  Off, but I have some replacements on that still fit which is good!
Happy or Moody most of the time:¬†I’m happy knowing my little lady will be here in just over a week but pretty moody being this uncomfortable. I swear they make you get this uncomfortable at the end just so you will endure labor, because at this point you will do anything to get it out!!
Looking forward to: Either next Monday or going into labor a little sooner would be great!
Photo coming soon, I actually took one, but I don’t have my Photoshop working right now to Jazz it up!

36 Weeks!

Ahh only 3 more weeks!! I feel like I am going to explode, I don’t know if I can make it that much longer, I cannot wait to meet our little girl!
Had my 36 week appointment today and everything is great! I really have nothing to report! I think she might have flipped last week, but over the weekend I think she flipped back again. The doctor today really couldn’t tell what position she was in, she was moving around so much while she was poking and prodding. She said it sometimes can be very difficult to tell whether its a head or a butt. A sono right at the very end will confirm whether she is head down or not. I don’t know what that means if she does flip, if they would cancel my c-section or not? I’m still hoping for September 30th at this point though. October seems too far away!!
On another note, the nursery is DONE! I’ll share the finished product at the end of this post! I’m so happy with how it turned out and I’m pretty close to being completely ready for baby!

How far along? 36 weeks 2 days
Total weight gain/loss:¬† Ugh up 36 lbs. I don’t even want to look at the scale anymore!
Maternity clothes?  Yes and bulging out of some of those now!
Stretch marks?  Nope still looking good!
Sleep: Still sleeping through the night, which is why so many people tell me she is not head down, if she was I’d be getting up to pee every two hours!
Best moment this week: Finally completing the nursery! (And really feeling like I don’t have anything to do in there!)
Miss Anything? Feeling like my old self. I literally feel like something else has completely taken over my body and I cannot wait until I feel like me again.
Movement:  So much, I sometimes think she is going to bust right out of me. The pressure in my stomach when she moves is crazy, and my entire stomach rolls around.
Food cravings:  I really wanted a Blue Moon beer last weekend, not sure why that one specifically.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No food, I was asked about taking my vitamins at my doctors appt. today and I said I was, but the truth is that I’m really bad about taking them because its the one thing that kinda does make me feel queasy!
Have you started to show yet: I think I’ve got that “she’s gonna blow” look about me about now!
Labor Signs: Still getting the braxton hicks, they are getting more intense and have a tendency to stop me in my tracks. I was given an instruction sheet at my appointment today about when to call them if they start getting to be much!
Belly Button in or out? Out and ridiculously huge looking. I can’t wait to put my little belly ring back in!
Wedding rings on or off?¬† Off¬† ūüė¶ Sad day, I really wanted to be one of those girls that can leave them on, but I was too afraid they would get stuck and then I’d go in to the hospital and they would ahave to cut them off or something!!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but tired. I kinda whine at night a lot to Dan that I just want her out, and that I don’t want to do this anymore. Trying to focus on big picture, 3 weeks isn’t that long when you’ve come 36!
Looking forward to: September 30th!!! (As long as that doesn’t change!!)
Photo was taken on the Bills 2013 season debut!!

Baby Girls Closet

34 Weeks

34 weeks and very uncomfortable! We had a doctors appointment this morning and everything looks great, but baby girl is still breech. She did manage to flip over the doctor thinks, but she went the wrong way. Instead of head down, she is sitting right side up, with her head still ramming my ribs! Stubborn little thing. I got all my instructions for my C-section, since we’re obviously still planning on that. Aside from being breech though, everything is great, my weight gain is right on track, (even though I feel like a horse), blood pressure and baby’s heart rate are perfect and I confirmed today with the doctor if she thought I’d be able to work right up until the end and she said she has no reason to suspect that I’m at risk for pre-term labor, so we’re doing great!
Heading off for a vacation in the Adirondacks on Wednesday, 5 days of relaxation should be great, except I’m a little worried about not having my bed or my couch, since I am not comfortable sleeping, sitting or standing anywhere, but it will be nice to get away before the baby comes, our last trip without our third wheel!

How far along? 34.1 weeks (yes every .1 counts at this stage)
Total weight gain/loss:  Gained 32 so far.
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: Just very uncomfortable.
Best moment this week: Getting a little more of the nursery done, we hung curtains and picked up our area rug, also got a call that our glider should be in by the end of the week, so I should have that soon too.

Miss Anything?  Being thin, and feeling like a normal human being. I think 6 months would have been perfect, beyond that is too long!

Movement:  Tons! The doctor said she feels her head up by my ribs (duh, I could have told her that) and her butt is real low, with her feet and legs kinda folded over and kicking behind my belly button, all things I already knew, I just thought her butt was a little more on the left but she said she thinks its down low. A Sono right at the end will confirm all this for us.
Food cravings:¬† Still doing my cocoa crispies thing every morning, but that’s really it, otherwise I just eat a lot of anything really!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope
Labor Signs: Still getting the braxton hicks but that’s okay. Nothing else yet.
Belly Button in or out? Mostly out, but depends on where baby girl is laying and what she’s kicking on for sure.
Wedding rings on or off?¬† Off, sad day! They were getting very tight, so I decided to ditch them both before they got stuck, now I’m wearing a fake ring that’s a little bigger just so I don’t have to worry about it.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty happy, except when I can’t get comfortable, then I’m a little whiny! There is just no good way to sit or lay anymore, 5 weeks is still a long time!!
Weekly Wisdom: Hang in there!! This is what I keep telling myself, It will be worth it in the end and I won’t remember all this discomfort pretty soon! (repeat, repeat, repeat)
Looking forward to: Vacation on Wednesday!!!

33.3 Weeks

I had to make sure I did my post today because I am 33.3 weeks and 3 is my favorite number, maybe today is good luck!
I am starting to get really uncomfortable and I am totally over being pregnant! Caryn had her baby boy on Saturday August 17th and I pouted all day to Dan that I wanted mine out too! (Real mature I know!) She’s getting so big, and her movements are so strong that I feel like my whole insides are being twisted and turned, and its really uncomfortable! Plus these braxton hicks that the doctor says I am getting are getting more frequent and they hurt a lot more!
I did get some news last week when the doctor called to notify me that they have established a date for my c-section (I guess they have no faith that my little lady will turn on her own) She has wedged herself comfortably sideways with her head ramming into my ribs! September 30th at 7:15 am, unless she decides she doesn’t want to wait that long and has some other plans, but we won’t be having an October baby after all. (At least I don’t have to go through labor) I have another doctor appointment on Monday the 26th, where they said they would give me some more information, so hopefully we’ll know more after that. I’ll likely be getting another sonogram soon just to confirm her position.
Since that date is a week earlier then my due date, we have a little less time to prepare then we thought, so we are down to less then 6 weeks, and since I feel like babies don’t like to be that predictable in having a solid date on the calendar, I think she’s going to throw us for a loop and come sooner. I don’t want to be too confident in that date, so I’m trying to get everything ready in the next 2-3 weeks.

How far along? 33.3 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  up 29 lb. at my last appointment
Maternity clothes?¬† Yes, but ALL my clothes are starting not to fit again (since I refused to buy too much maternity stuff) but I’m so close now I can’t justify buying anything new!
Stretch marks?¬† None, I keep making Dan check under my belly since I can’t see anymore!
Sleep: Once I’m asleep I’m fine, but any position I lay in is uncomfortable. I have to strategically place pillows to prop myself up!
Best moment this week: Hearing that we have a date to meet our babe! Not that I am ready to undergo major abdominal surgery or anything, but Its really nice to have an end in site, and to know I won’t go past that date!
Miss Anything?  Being comfortable.
Movement:¬† I don’t even need to answer this, we all know she is a little bit crazy at this point in the game!
Food cravings:  Cocoa Crispies every morning as my first breakfast.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I am very sensitive to smells all of a sudden again, nothing has really bothered me all throughout but now if something stinks, I immediately notice!
Have you started to show yet: I can’t wait until my “showing” starts going the other way now.
Labor Signs: Getting those braxton hicks a little more frequently, sometimes its¬† worse then others, but I’ve had to start keeping track for the doctor now.
Belly Button in or out? Out, Dan says my turkey timer is done!
Wedding rings on or off?  Wearing my engagement ring, but the wedding band is permanently on my necklace now.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I’m still happy, but I am getting sooo tired of being pregnant that I think I’m a little more whiny then ever before. I complain about everything in the evenings because I’m always hot, or I can’t get comfy, or I’m too hungry, or too full. I don’t handle pain or being uncomfortable very well and Dan will convince me to take a walk or something just to “ambulate” as he says! But it gets us moving and usually puts me to sleep, which is the best!
Looking forward to: September 30th!!!!
And as promised I have a few sneak peak pictures of our nursery. I am still waiting for a lot of our big pieces like our glider and area rug to come in, and we have a lot of little things to finish, but I’m really excited with how its coming along!
The closet was nice and organized before the shower, now its loaded up and I have some re-organizing to do!

This is the corner where our glider will be going, I’m also hanging some book shelves on the wall that are yet to be painted and hung up!

The dresser and changing area are almost complete, I still feel like it looks a little bare, so working on that! The changing pad cover has arrived since I took this photo though.

Our crib… there will be some more shelves on the wall to the left. As well as a rug which will make it more complete.

And that’s all for now, next time I post these pictures it will be complete, all we’ll be missing is our little girl!

32 Weeks and counting….

We had a very busy week and after my shower on Saturday, I think I am almost fully prepared for this little girl!! I cannot thank all our friends and family enough for their generosity and help in getting us ready for baby. I think we received almost everything we need for her, with the exception of a few things, which I am lucky enough to have gift cards for! Now its just me trying to organize everything and finish with all my nursery decor, (which I know I said I would do – a nursery sneak peak). Luckily organizing is one of my favorite things to do, so I’ve had a lot of¬† “fun” opening everything, washing things and getting everything put away. I made great progress this weekend, and even managed to put together some of the big things all by myself (except the rock n play which my sister helped me assemble!) And its no easy fete to put this stuff together when you can’t bend at the waist or sit on the ground for more then a few minutes without a leg falling asleep, so yes I am tooting my own horn on this!
I am working on all my Thank You cards this week, but in case you are reading this in advance of that, THANK YOU if you sent us a gift, we can’t say it enough and are now more then ever ready to meet our Little Lady!

How far along? 32. 3 days (yes I am actually posting this update on time for once)
Total weight gain/loss:  I actually gained about 5 pounds since my last appointment, which I was a little surprised by, but that puts me up 29 lbs.
Stretch marks?  Nope
Sleep: Sleeping like a baby (haha) Sleeping really well actually, starting to fall asleep early on the couch again, which I haven’t been doing too often, but also sleeping well through the night. I hardly ever get up to pee (which I feel is amazing) tossing and turning sometimes when I can’t get comfortable. But this morning Dan got up really early to go play golf and I didn’t even hear him leave, which is unheard of from me
Best moment this week: Our Shower on Saturday August 10. My sister, Dan’s sister and our mom’s hosted a great shower!! Everything was absolutely beautiful, the colors all coordinated with my nursery colors, the favors were adorable and they had “Advice to the mother-to-be” cards out, which they posted on a great big board that matched our invitations. Everything was awesome, and as I’ve already said we got so much of what we need for this baby and are so thankful that we have so many people in our lives that are willing and able to help us prepare!
Miss Anything?¬† I’m going back to wine!! Dan and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary this week and went to a nice dinner and of course all I wanted with dinner was a big glass of wine! So close, yet so far away!!
Movement:¬† Still so much activity, I would think she is running out of room. Her head is starting to ram my ribs on the right side. She is still breech and laying sideways, and if I push down on her head to get her to move down her little legs kick me on the left side. I can’t win this! I like to describe some of her movement as a cat stuck in a bag… my whole stomach moves when she gets going. Dan tried to get video, but she was being a little camera shy whenever he pulled it out she stops and if he puts it down she starts up again.
Food cravings:¬† Not really, I don’t seem to get full anymore, I can eat and eat. I told Dan I wasn’t a fan of that because when we go out to eat I never have leftovers for lunch anymore, and that makes me a little sad! Nothing better then leftovers!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No
Have you started to show yet: Silly question.
Labor Signs: I had a doctor appointment yesterday and I explained to the doctor that when she (and my stomach) gets really hard sometimes I feel almost paralyzed for a few seconds and it gets hard to breath, she said I was experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions, and nothing to be worried about but I need to start paying attention to how frequently this happens. If I get more then 6 in an hour, its time to call. So far we are getting them about once every hour or so. So I think we’ve got some time! But kinda scary that its getting that close!
Belly Button in or out? Out and so squishy!
Wedding rings on or off?¬† Ah, I had to ditch the wedding band. The engagement ring still fits fine, but the band was getting a little tight to slide over my knuckle and I didn’t want it to get stuck. So I wear that around my necklace now. Sometimes I still slide it on because it just looks so bare without it! Definitely sleep with¬† both off though because my hands get so hot at night.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I can actually say I’ve been a little moody this past week. Feeling so happy and so lucky after my shower and everything, but my poor husband is getting a little taste of my hormones I think! Its weird being a little over emotional because that’s not like me at all, but this week I’ve definitely noticed that I am a little over sensitive… didn’t think I would get like that but guys should know we’re doing all the work here and although nothing has changed for them just yet, a lot has for the lady! I think that’s whats driving me more crazy then anything.
Weekly Wisdom: I think, see above should do it. My wisdom is for the hubby’s out there, life has changed a bit, (even though baby isn’t here yet) embrace the change and support it!!
Looking forward to: Completing the nursery! Now that we finally have everything we need, I cannot wait to finish it up and feel as though we are really ready for her whenever she decides to come. I want it all done way ahead of time and then I can sit back and actually relax knowing that I have everything ready.
Photos coming soon!! (I promise – nursery and bump pics)

30 Weeks – Almost there!

We have survived 30 weeks, only 10 more left! (Hopefully a little less if little girl wants to make an early appearance!) I am feeling pretty good and definitely nesting, which is exhausting in itself!¬† I’m going all out on my To-Do lists of everything that needs to be done, both at home and at work before baby. Shower is this weekend and after that once I get all organized, I think I will be ready! Sorta.

We had a doctors appointment this week and baby girl is still breech, she thinks she may have her head under my liver, she is tucked really far on my right side, which I’ve said all along, but she is measuring fine, and all the tests, heart rates, blood pressure, weight gain, etc…. all that usual stuff is right on track and we are looking good! We’re still gonna wait and see what she decided to do by week 35-36, if she flips on her own we’ll be waiting it out like the rest of the world, if she doesn’t flip we’ll schedule a c-section for the last week in September. So by the first week in September we should know a little more, which will make planning with work so much easier!

How far along? 30 weeks and counting
Total weight gain/loss:  Still up 24 lbs.
Maternity clothes?¬† Yes, and I’m usually in crisis mode finding something that fits that I haven’t worn 3 times in a week already.
Stretch marks?  Nothing yet.
Sleep: Still sleeping relatively well, tossing and turning a little bit, getting up to pee every now and then in the middle of the night, but can’t complain.
Best moment this week: This was a pretty average week I think, not really anything exciting. I guess I did get a few more things I ordered online for the nursery, and a few shower gifts came in the mail which is always exciting.
Miss Anything?¬† Meh, I’ve made it this far, anything I miss is in my near future again at this point.
Movement:¬† Movement is getting very strong, I can feel almost every move she makes, kicks are definitely like kicks now and not just a weird gas bubble in my tummy. Sometimes I think she is trying to flip and can’t, I’ll feel her head (always on my right) but sometimes really low and sometimes really high.
Food cravings:¬† Pop! I can’t get enough and I have to really cut myself off because I can’t have that much caffeine, I think I just like the bubbles and the fact that it isn’t water, but that’s all I really want to drink. I also have had a bad thing for Snickers Ice cream bars. YUM!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing.
Gender prediction: Can’t wait to meet my little lady!!
Labor Signs: I’ve had some shooting pains on my sides that feel like running cramps once in awhile, usually simultaneously as she kicks me, but I asked the doctor about it and (of course its not labor pains) but she said its completely normal and the baby may in fact be kicking something.
Belly Button in or out? In when I lay down and out when I stand up…. gravity I guess?
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!! So much to look forward to right now!
Weekly Wisdom: I am doing a lot of reading now, on breastfeeding, preparing for a newborn, what I can do to make transitions and healing time smoother, trying to plan out freezer meals and stocking up for grocery shopping, I figured I have the time now and I won’t in a few weeks when I am trying to figure everything out.
Looking forward to: A busy upcoming week… my mom’s birthday dinner, a girls night out, Dan’s parents are coming into town to visit and the shower this weekend, so I’ll get to see a lot of family and friends this week!
Please excuse my nasty hair and lack of any make-up, it was a lazy Sunday!

The end of week 29!

Once again I am behind, so I’m actually posting while in my 30th week, but you get the idea….the update will be from last week!

Lisa and Dan tied the knot on Friday July 26th, it was absolutely perfect! The weather was beautiful and the bride was even more beautiful! I really cannot believe she is married already, it felt so far away and now its come and gone, which means Baby Mags is going to be here soooo soon too! Below are a few pictures I will share from the wedding, I just can’t help myself, it turned out so perfect!

Me and my husband!

Proud Dad walking the beautiful Bride down the aisle!
How far along? End of week 29
Total weight gain/loss:  Still up 24 lbs. as far as I know
Maternity clothes?  We know my answer to this one
Stretch marks?  None
Sleep: Sleeping ok. Waking up more in the middle of the night, not really to pee, but just because I am uncomfortable. The belly is getting heavy so even sleeping on my side now requires that I tuck a pillow under me, which isn’t the most comfortable, I’m thinking it may be time for one of those body pillows, but I just hate how much room they take up in bed.
Best moment this week: My sister’s wedding!! It was so much fun and everything was so great! She did such a great job planning everything (with my help of course – yes I’ll take a little credit!) It was a very long day, but due to wedding tradition, I tried not to leave the dance floor too much, and I hardly sat down all night, which I paid dearly for on Saturday, but it was worth it! We had a nice recovery day and by Sunday Dan and I were ready to be productive around the house! We got SO much done in the nursery (which is my second best moment this week). The dresser is now fully assembled, and stocked with some clothes that I got (and bought myself) we put the crib together, and I bought a few more decor things, like some art for the walls and a new table lamp. I’m hoping to do a nursery sneak peak picture soon, but I’m waiting until things are a little more finished, getting so close though!

Miss Anything? The usual….wine, my old summer clothes, sitting, standing and walking normal. Feeling like my old self in general. Growing a human is tough work, I’m so glad there is a finish line for this!

Movement:¬† I don’t think I even need to answer this question!! Of course there is a ton! Dan and I get a kick out of watching my whole stomach move at night when we’re on the couch. I tried to get a video of it, but it just doesn’t do it justice. Its also so weird when I get lopsided. She still seems to be breech as far as I can tell, with her head on my right side. I’m waiting to feel something different in hopes that she’s flipped over.
Food cravings: Not much, I get full so easily. I guess Ice cream is still a hot item, but I think its every pregnant women’s excuse to just eat all the ice cream she wants!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No
Have you started to show yet: Getting pretty big, not really liking it, ready to put my skinny pants on again! (I am excited to start seeing Fall clothes out in stores, it means I can can shop for my normal size soon hopefully)
Labor Signs: I get a shooting pain on my right side sometimes, especially when she give me a good swift kick, but no labor pains yet. Still terrified to answer yes on this one!
Belly Button in or out? Out, you can now see it in almost everything I wear! It does go flat when I lay in bed though, I think Baby Girl just kicks it out during the day!
Wedding rings on or off?¬† On, they seem to be feeling a little tighter lately but I don’t plan to take them off unless they hurt me.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I am so excited to see the nursery take shape, and the closer we get to the shower the more things I am starting to get! Its so fun coming home from work to packages on my door step, gifts for my little girl! Makes everything way more real now that she has a room in the house where there are so many baby things.
Weekly Wisdom: I’m feeling a little run down this week. Got some sort of a bug (sore throat, runny/stuffy nose) I think between the wedding, family in town, and getting so much done around the house I over did it a little bit. I’m trying to take it easy this week, have a big party to go to this upcoming Saturday with friends but I’m only going for the day instead of staying over night. I feel like I may need to just slow down a little and rest, hard to do with so much going on but my weekly wisdom for myself is to just take it easy!

Looking forward to: My Shower in a week and a half, Dan’s dad will be in town for that. Looking forward to seeing a lot of friends and family, that I haven’t seen much this summer!

And here is my photo that I FINALLY remembered to take this week. It is actually a few days into my 30th week, but I don’t think I got that much bigger in a few days! Although at this rate you never know. I feel like a cow!

28 Weeks

Yes I know I’m super far behind! I am not so good at taking the pictures which means I keep putting off posting until I have a picture. I’m doing a 28 week update here, but I don’t have a picture. I will do my 29 week update shortly and I promise to have a photo then!

How far along? 28 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  Up 24 lbs at my last doctor appointment, which was last Thursday the 18th
Maternity clothes?¬† Still yes and no on this one. I am finding that they do in fact make maternity clothes for a reason, but I still can’t justify spending money on them!
Stretch marks?  Nope holding strong!
Sleep: Still sleeping really good actually. I don’t even get up to pee in the middle of the night too often. I toss and turn a lot since being restricted to my sides isn’t my preferred sleep position, but in general I can’t complain. Baby Girl likes to move around a lot right at bed time and sometimes that prevents me from falling asleep right away, but I’m usually so tired it doesn’t last long.
Best moment this week: We went camping with friends last weekend and had a really great time! They all have two little ones already so it was a good taste of baby fever! I was a little uncomfortable though since camping chairs and air mattresses aren’t pregnant friendly, but its something we’ve done every year for a few years now and a fun tradition we are starting. I will share a photo at the end of this of our “Then and Now” last year when we went the other two with babies were pregnant, this year it was my turn. Things have changed for us!
Miss Anything?¬† Being comfortable with normal things, like sitting. I am starting to just feel uncomfortable all the time, sitting, standing, laying…. it all only lasts a few minutes before I need to change position. I am looking forward to getting back to my normal self!
Movement:¬† TONS!! Movements are so strong now and so frequent, I don’t think she ever stops. We asked the doctor if this was normal and her reply was “An active baby is a healthy baby” So it seems like we just have one active little girl! Just like her parents I guess…. Neither Dan or I can sit still very long!
Food cravings:¬† Not really, the hungry all the time thing has sub-sided some, I just don’t have room to eat a lot now. My sister’s wedding this week has slowed down my ice cream at night, but other then that I pretty much eat what I want!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, gagged myself this morning a little bit brushing my teeth, still have a kinda sensitive gag reflex.
Have you started to show yet: Yes! Baby girl is growing perfectly, we had a sono and they took all her measurements of head and belly and everything is right on track, My belly was even measuring slightly ahead! (maybe she’ll be here early!!)
Gender prediction: Its still a girl!! (Our sono confirmed this again on Thursday, lol)
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? Its popped out! Not a lot but you can definitely tell!
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I am getting tired a lot more easily, and with the heat we’ve had lately its made it hard to breath outside (that and I have a little one squishing my lungs!!) I’ve finally got Dan to start working on the nursery! We’re halfway through putting the dresser together, and we painted. I also got a few shower gifts in the mail, and a whole bunch of clothes were donated to me, so I am little by little working on the nursery! All things to just be excited about! Haven’t gotten to the point of panic over having a baby soon!! I’m sure that will come!
Looking forward to: My Sister’s wedding this week is the BIG one! Also looking froward to my shower that is only 2 weeks away now! I’m horrible at peeking at my registry, but Baby Girl already has some really nice things coming her way, and I can’t wait to start organizing everything in the nursery! She needs so much stuff and I am so grateful and excited for the shower so we can get a little help with all the stuff she is going to need! Man babies are needy!
Below is a creepy picture from our sonogram this week. The tech had a hard time getting a good photo of her, she moves around a lot and she is getting so big that it was hard to capture the whole thing. The picture is of her face (you can kinda see her eyes, nose and mouth even though she’s on her side)…. She is in a Frank Breech position as of now, they are going to keep an eye on her and we’re hoping she flips over on her own by 35 weeks, otherwise we may be looking at a scheduled C-section at 39 weeks.
And to the right is the other picture I promised from our camping trip! This was last years camping trip where the other two ladies were pregnant (Becky and Chris had just spilled the beans to us that weekend) and then our picture from this year, where we’ve added 2 more to our 6 pack and have another on the way!
